What the Status Means
SASSA's published status guide describes bank details pending as an application or reapplication that has been received without completed banking details or payment preferences.
Use an Account That Can Be Verified
Payment details should identify the beneficiary correctly. A name or account mismatch can delay verification. Never give your online-banking password, card PIN or OTP to a status-check website.
Verification Can Take Time
Updating banking information does not necessarily produce an immediate payment date. Allow time for the payment details to be verified and then check the status again.
If You Do Not Have a Bank Account
Use only payment options currently made available in the SRD process. Availability can change, so rely on the options presented for your own application rather than instructions copied from old screenshots.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does bank details pending mean I was declined?
No. It means payment information still needs attention or verification.
Can I use another person’s bank account?
Use a payment method that can be verified to the beneficiary under the current rules. Another person’s account can cause verification problems.
Should I share an OTP to update bank details?
Only enter an OTP in the legitimate process that generated it. Never send it to another person.
