SASSA Status Check Not Working

Troubleshoot an SRD status checker that shows errors, no record, invalid details, or service unavailable.

Information reviewed 20 September 2026

Check the Basics First

Confirm the ID has 13 digits and the mobile number is the one registered with the SRD application. A new SIM number may not match the existing record.

No Record vs Service Error

No record usually points to a details/application mismatch. A service-unavailable message is different: it can mean the status service itself is temporarily unreachable.

Try Again Without Reapplying

A temporary technical error is not a reason to create a new application. Wait and retry the status check later.

Protect Your Details During an Outage

Do not move to random websites that ask for more personal information simply because one service is unavailable. Never share an OTP, PIN or banking password.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the checker reject my phone number?

Use a valid South African mobile number and, for a live SRD lookup, the number registered to the application.

What does no record found mean?

The ID/mobile combination may not match an active record.

Should I keep submitting every few seconds?

No. Repeated attempts will not fix an upstream outage and can trigger rate limits.
